Covid-19 cases are on the rise in New York. Moreover, experts warn that winters bring in shorter days and lower temperatures. It is quite evident as a matter of fact. New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has reportedly said, that the novel coronavirus is all set to make things worse as winter sets in.
Going by the most recent tests, the state and New York City have seen positive tests on the rise by almost 3 %. This is helmed as the new phase in Coronavirus spread.
Governor Andrew Cuomo’s Take On The Scenario
Reportedly, the Governor has told reporters over a conference call that, the only way is to look for a management plan. Until and unless a vaccine comes out, the cases are bound to increase. A few days back, Mayor Bill de Blasio has warned the city of the second wave of infection coming soon.
The world is still grappling with the rise in Covid-19 cases. Moreover, the Mayor has said, that he might need to implement damage control measures like before. It seems the city is all-set for a second lockdown. A lockdown seems to be the only way to stop the spread of the disease.

Going by current test results of Covid-19 and the grim situation surrounding the place, Mayor Bill de Blasio plans to reconsider the decision to open restaurants. The restrictions of fifty percent capacity do not seem to hold good. However, he also said, that the final decision lies with New York Governor Andrew Cuomo. New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy, had announced stricter rules after instances of outbreaks among the bartenders came up.
The Grim Situation Across States
The new rules that were set to start included a ban on bar seating and dining. As of 10 pm, it is still limited to 25 % at 10 pm. Murphy has said, that people start partying without thinking of social distancing. Moreover, Murphy has also announced a total shutdown of all interstate youth sports, for high school athletes.
The restrictions are more applicable towards sports like indoor hockey. The situation is the same across places across Hudson River. The situation seems to be grim in places like Staten Island. Most residents are been encouraged to go for a free test.
Numbers are steadily on the rise in New York city. 5.7 % positive cases have come up in Western and Central New York city. However, Cuomo says, that the situation is still better than most other states across the country.
The Covid-19 positivity rate remains the third-lowest in the nation so far. Moreover, the city’s daily positivity rate is 2.9%, and the seven-day positivity rate is 2.3%, which is higher than the last few months, according to the mayor.

Now, New Yorkers can now check the positivity levels by zip code. The government is all set to reinforce some stronger measures. Moreover, awareness drives seem to be at an all-time high. Tuesday at St. George Ferry Terminal saw masks being distributed amongst the general public. Thus, New Yorkers are preparing for more stringent measures in various sectors.
